Like the graphic, this is a cheap plug for a good book! Ben raised £4,255 GBP by 152 backers in order to publish this book, which he thought important enough to spend time writing after reflecting on his time as a graphic designer, at first at Falmouth University which had its own standards and demands; then with a succession of other employers, before finally landing at the Guardian where he is now Director of Digital Design.
But this is not just for graphic designers, it is for anyone involved in creating to clients wishes, faced with deadlines, unclear guidance and general mismanagement of the client - designer interface.
This is an honest book, taking into account the authors own experience of mental health difficulties which are, inevitably, managed not cured.
Told with wit and engaging anecdotes of his passage from high-performing student, to now high-performing designer for a world renowned newspaper, this book is a must for any student entering the field and those already there: if they care about their mental health.
