I am all about poetry and story telling and writing

My Work

I began writing poetry in about 1999 and now have a collection of over 1000 poems on a variety of subjects, all of which my two sons have been telling me for years should be put published.

I'm working on it!

My passion for writing began over 25 years ago when I realised I wanted to record what I see in the world and tell stories about it, perhaps for others to read. This is particularly in poetry, a few poems have been published in local anthologies; but also, I have written a fantasy adventure with my son Joe (still looking for a publisher) and enjoy short story and flash fiction writing: I guess, I really just enjoy writing!

My mum gave me my love of reading.

I had a long and varied career in youth services retiring from my role as a local authority Youth Service Manager in Coventry in 2017 - more time to focus on my writing! (Though I also, now, work part-time as  a ‘brand  ambassador’   delivering and collecting  cars for press,  PR and  demonstration  for a  company  near  Banbury - giving me more opportunities for seeing interesting places,  meeting interesting people  and  listening  to  books  with  Audible!).

My Community

My community includes my wife, Sally, my two sons, Ben (a graphic designer and adopted Argentinian) and Joe, creative writing graduate, gamer and research assistant for the Gallery of Living History (more of that elsewhere).

A Creative Writing class I attend every Tuesday gives me chance to write, read and gain feedback on my work.

NaPoWriMo is another way in which I practice my poetry: this year will be my third year. I will publish my poems on the website beginning on 31 March 2023.

I enter the O'Bheal Five -Words Poetry Competition and last year was fortunate to have my poem '...stream...' shortlisted.

Read my work, offer me wise words, ask for my wise (?) words, ask me to write something for you.
