Today's Poem monday 3 august 2026

… a few things happened on the way to Disneyland…

Sonic blue earmuffs of sound

plenty of black clothes wandering

around the airport lounge

fashionista statements yes with logos

to match the light-show of purveyors

offering super dry accessorized trainers

in one view through Burberry and Ray-Ban bribery

promise of the glamour-life darkened

through black-tinted glasses in

photographs

taken on yachts or sipping champagne

breakfasts the latest Apple clasped

in hand below chin for all the world

to hear as they begin in loud sotto voce

command to child running away— in such high jinx of florescent pink rolling

suitcases like bowling balls rumbling

down the marble-tile glass-lined alleys

of disappointing delays and toddlers to distract

the sky-road to Charles De Gaul longer

with distraught children in the confines

of a flying tube! in which a sermon is conducted

by a long-haired crucifix- wearing and bearded Aussie with his leather-

covered bible that he just happens to have handy

… a modern take on the money-lenders

involving credit cards and money laundering

to illustrate the nature of sin (from what I

could hear above the sound of the engines!)

as our magic carpet slowly made its decent

into the realm of Disney in Paris
